I rodered a tent from Millets at Easter, which arrived quickly and I used last weekend.
It has some quite good features, however 'keeping water out' isn't one of them. It actually leaked through the fabric of the porch. There was one other person at the event I met with an identical tent, his leaked the first time he'd mused it, but he waterproofed it for this weekend, and it leaked even worse. Pretty much everyone else I talked to had no problems with leaky tents, so not down to extreme weather, more perisistant drizzle.
So I have a returns bag, and there are several reasons for rejection, but as it was an online purchase would I be on better ground rejecting it under some distance selling regs, rather than 'not fot for purpose'?
Or should it not matter?

If you've used it I don't think you'll be able to reject it unless faulty.

I concur with Scott.
Consumer Contracts Regulations 2014 (replacement for DSRs*) will not be applicable if you have used the product.
Consumer Rights Act 2015 (replacement for SOGA*) still allows you to return faulty/not fit for purpose item up to 6 years. You couldn't possibly be expected to know it was faulty until you tried it.
So in the circumstances you describe you should go with the latter.

Thanks, I thought it would be the 'leaky' argument. At least I can return it to any store and save postage.
The ostensibly identical 3 year old Vango pitched next to us is over double the price. Apparently there is a reason for that.

That water inside isn't leakage, it's condensation 'cos you're using it wrong.
