Cleaning/rejuvenating/whitening white suede?

I just found a pair of suede boat shoes at the back of our wardrobe, really nice, blue, red but with the tops in white suede.
They are more grey than white now!
Okay, I'll probably only wear them on holidays. Wellingtons, slippers and Doc Martins don't look cool on a beach.
Anyone know how to get them back to white without dissolving the whole shoe?
Yes, I do have a suede brush and eraser. No difference.
I have thought of diluted bleach which works really well sometimes, but has been known to dissolve the object being bleached.
