About the size of a bus, the space rock, known as 2023 BU, will whip over the southern tip of South America just after midnight GMT.

This one was only picked up last weekend by amateur astronomer Gennadiy Borisov.

Scary to think it's much closer than the satellite belt that we all depend on
(and before someone says "all" , many of us then)

Yes another example of why we need space based early warning satellites & defenses.

Many worry about rogue States, but one of these could do the equivalent damage of a nuclear bomb with very little time to evacuate the impact zone.
