Never mind your Sony A9 that can shoot 20 frames per second, here is a 100 year old camera that is limited to just 20 shots per session. Forcing the photographer to seriously consider "looking for a photo, thinking about the shot, and composing the scene"

The images have an aesthetic quality about them that display all the seeing, thinking, composing elements mentioned above and IMO are a great example of how to combine black & white, focus, edge darkening and movement blur to create beautiful moody pictures.

Interesting pictures. It seems now we have cameras (and phones) that make it easy to take pictures that are perfectly sharp and in focus, we start to try to recreate that old look where the DoF is very shallow and only specific things are sharp.

I have taken a selection of portraits for my local gym and yoga studio and they are shot at f2.8 in natural light at a focal length of 70mm. Only the eyes are really sharp but it really brings the portraits to life rather than having the whole thing in sharp focus.

It reminds me a bit of the history of photography where the Pictorialists reigned until 1920's with their photo manipulation techniques to create art. They were then countered by the f/64 group - Ansel Adams being one, who wanted to record the image in exact detail as it was seen by the naked eye.
