I found a book that I wanted to read is available to download for free, one-click, with no subscription or registration etc. Ie Simple! I don't know to what extent other books are available in this way, but thought it worthy of a topic for any others that Lemons might find.

'The Missionary Position - Mother Theresa theory and practise'

The publisher Baen have a free library and publish a free short story each month (sometimes two, sometimes one and a non-fiction article). Sorry but it's mostly Science Fiction.

The Gutenburg project makes books with expired copywrite available for free download.

This agent tries to find free books on Amazon.

Finally, if you don't mind paying a nominal sum, don't forget to check the daily deals at Amazon and Audible. For example (though it's not for me) today Amazon has the first 3 Similey books by John le Carré for 99p each. Tomorrow they will offer something else.

If you go into Kindle books and select a category that interests you and then tell it to sort by price, lowest to highest, there are quite a few free books there. Some good, some not.

They used to have to 2 top 100 downloads of categories, paid for and free but the seems to have vanished.
