Hmm, typical pub rant -- evidently only has a superficial layman's knowledge of the subject he's talking about!
A.D. brings us directly back to Dionysian times, with the twin difficulties that we haven't a clue
which is the year of our Lord, and we have no idea
how Dionysus calculated the base year for his new calendar. In short, B.C./A.D. is a mess; and since it has only been widely adopted quite recently, it seems to me that embracing the improvements of the CE/BCE system is a far better idea.
Ironically, it also means we are not playing the dreaded "political correctness" game wherein we may not offend the [rather precious] religious classes.
