Well the wooden thing looks like a spurtle, but a bit on the small side.

I have to agree. I've seen piles of these in tourist shops around the Buddhist temples and stupas in Kathmandu! Always managed to resist buying a pair though ... ;)

Thank you, Julian, for an wide-ranging selection of objects. Personally I don't think I knew any of them but nevertheless, it was interesting to see the items and the guesses they inspired.

I would like to see a photograph of your workshop! It must be a wonder.
