That looks feasible but it is not a foot for any type of furniture or anything-else.

Another interesting guess but it is not automotive.

The Starter solenoid plunger boot is the closest answer of the two, although that is a bit like saying that a giraffe is more like a bicycle than a washing-machine.

Squishy. It is hollow.

If it was a quarter of the size I'd guess an ear bud cover. Anything along those lines?

Scott.

It is not any sort of cover. The second photo provides the biggest clue as to the sort of thing it might be.

1. A nipple warmer for an octopus?
2. Multi pressure diaphragm seal?
3. Something that belongs inside a toilet cistern?

AsleepInYorkshire, one of those answers is close.

Clue: I found some Octopus nipple pasties on Etsy but it is not those. (I didn't link but you can Google them.)

Is it's not automotive AND it's squishy AND AIY was close
then it's not a hand pump/bellow for a fuel line or a pocket espresso machine
- but it's blowing air down that nipple for AIY's third suggestion?

I think it's the top diaphragm seal in the top of a cistern, but I don't know its name.

I disagree. I think a washing machine is more like a bicycle than like a giraffe.

What is this mystery item to which you refer?

Correct answer servodude.

It's the bellow behind the button used with Grohe pneumatic flushing mechanisms. A tube pushes onto this and the other end of the tube pushes onto a clear plastic bellows which operates the flush valve.

The one in the photo is split, a common problem, easily fixed by fitting a replacement.
