AIC Watchlist and Income Finder - notification of enhancements

Hi, Some of you use either or both of these tools. Please see the below note we recently sent out to many users as an advanced warning.

You will not lose any functionality or content! Happy to receive further feedback on launch for consideration. I hope the enhancements help users.

Dear AIC Website user,

We wrote to you in December 2022 regarding potential enhancements to your investment company watchlists on the AIC website. As a recent visitor to our website, with one or more investment company watchlists set up, you, along with thousands of other users were included in that mail out.
We very much appreciated the feedback we received from this communication from a large number of our website users. Suggestions on look, feel, content and functionality, were received not only for the investment company watchlists but also the AIC Income Finder. We have listened to that feedback and used it to help redesign, improve and merge the two areas into a single, more helpful tool.
In August we will launch all these enhancements on www.theaic.co.uk. It is important to note that all the data and features you currently enjoy, as well as your own dedicated portfolios that you have previously created, will be retained and available to you after launch.

The enhancements include:
• Existing Watchlists and Income Portfolios will be merged into one set of lists for users, ‘My portfolios’, retaining the companies you have added so far as well the names you have given your lists.
• Previously users had to administer separate portfolios for both tools. You will have the ability to continue to do this or choose to merge them into the same portfolio yourself for convenience.
• To enable this, you will now be able to add ‘number of shares’ to your watchlist companies. This will also allow you to see how much your investments are worth, based upon the previous day’s market close price. You will even be able to add your own ‘cash holding’ placeholder to better signpost any investment outside of investment companies.
• The same data you enjoyed within watchlists will remain in a ‘data point’ screen, with an improved look and feel to the ‘customise’ option and some additional data points.
• A ‘sector breakdown’ chart will be added, allowing you to see at a glance across which AIC sectors your portfolios are invested. This can be done individually, or in aggregate of all your portfolios.
• Stock splits inevitably lead to a change in the number of shares an investor holds. Our system will now alert you to companies within your portfolio who have undergone a stock split, and the terms of the split, and give you the option to manually update your new holdings or even let the system update your portfolio with the assumed new number of shares.
