Françoise Hardy

#635422

Postby Clitheroekid » December 20th, 2023, 8:06 pm

In my YouTube wanderings earlier I came across this song which I remember really liking many years ago, but which I'd completely forgotten.

I'd also forgotten how beautiful Françoise Hardy was.

A lovely wave of 60s nostalgia - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1cuQF8sEGA

This not not good for the ticker. I fell in love with France (and Mlle Hardy) when I visited the first time at 16/17 - Mlle Hardy was all over the radio waves/tv and I had a clutch of her 45s. I could not understand why the girls at my local grammar didn't at least copy her style and preferred to look like Helen Shapiro. Decided my future path through life.

If you like Francois Hardy music, you might also like this one from Marianne Faithfull, from the same era (This little Bird).

If you like Françoise Hardy with a bit of 60's twangy guitar try Bon Entendeur vs Françoise Hardy's "Le temps de l’amour" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-kr9dQ386Y

Bon Entendeur are a three piece project formed in 2012. They take 'oldies' and remix with electro dance beats. For me, works sometimes, other offerings not so good.

Very sad, have quite a few of her CD's..had a lovely voice. RIP. And another one bites the dust, as I'm just listening to Eva Cassidy's version of Over the Rainbow when I hear sad news.

This last video is quite extraordinary considering how ill she was at the time, but I digress as this is a tribute to FH but just heard a song from Cassidy and I wonder if Hardy was one of her influences...........Regardless, hope you two meet somewhere and play magical music together.
