I've quite enjoyed the athletics World Championships - not least the plucky Brit stuffing it to the arrogant Norwegian last night in the mens 1500 meters.
I've really enjoyed them handing out the medals on the finish line instead of the dreary podiums / national anthems etc. It makes it seem more like the glorified school sports day that it actually is.
I still don't like the winners being draped in national flags (from the look of it, its actually the assembled journos that give out the flag for their photo opportunities)
But I really don't like this:
World Championships 2023: Katie Moon and Nina Kennedy share pole vault gold medal in BudapestI think a couple of high jumpers did this a few years back and I felt the same way. It's a competition. There can only be one winner. Screw all this nicey-nicey sharing the win crap. If it can't be decided with their chosen sport then let them choose their weapon and fight it out - to the death if need be.
