Simple Price Scrape enhancement now includes Yahoo
Re: Simple Price Scrape enhancement now includes Yahoo
Hi Kiloran
You are right it's all over the place. As I said previously Yahoo is not reliable.
Only one problem with prices derived from FT.com. Fund prices are often delivered (by the Fund managers) to three or four decimal places but FT,Com rounds them down to two decimal places. Which can make a significant difference in a portfolio with a lot of funds.
Thanks again for looking at this and let's hope Yahoo reverts back to how it used to be.

At least now their "closing" price is actually the same as the LSE close. Previously Yahoo just showed the price of the last trade, and as trades can continue after the market closes Yahoo's closing price was often different to everywhere else.

Hi Pete. It would be helpful if you specified which version you are using, and which price source.
I just tried the Excel and LibreOffice versions of the Simple Price Scrape. Both worked OK using the SharePrice price source. The Excel version worked OK for Yahoo, but the LibreOffice version failed. I also found the same problem with HYPTUSS using LibreOffice.
I'll have a look at it tomorrow.
Thanks for the heads-up

By "it", do you mean the LibreOffice version using the Yahoo price source?

Re: Simple Price Scrape enhancement now includes Yahoo
I've been having problems since yesterday with the Yahoo downloads. All return blank.
The SharePrice page works fine.
I did download a new copy from the weebly, and the same problem with Yahoo occurred. SharePrice was fine (except of course the now-matured Gilt TN24)
Simple_Price_Scrape_2-1.ods
Libre Office 7.4.7.2 (x64)
Windows 10

Had a look at it this morning and it's working fine, as is HYPTUSS (which uses the same piece of code). I imagine there was some odd quirk on the Yahoo web page which was OK with the Excel VBA code, but caused problems with the LibreOffice Python code.
I'll try to keep an eye on it to see if the problem returns.

Thanks for checking. It's working on my computer now too.
You don't need to waste time monitoring I'm using it daily and can report any problems.

Re: Simple Price Scrape enhancement now includes Yahoo
Anybody having problems with the Yahoo price scrape (Libreoffice on Windows)?
The Shareprices tab is working but the Yahoo tab isn't - prices and currency are set to blank.

Looks like there is a change (temporary again?) at the Yahoo end.
I'll check tomorrow
