Funeral tease

Postby Clitheroekid » June 9th, 2023, 12:17 pm

Some of you may have seen the news recently about the founder of PET, Ingrid Newkirk, having made a Will leaving various body parts to named people and organisations. She has apparently also mandated that what's left of her body should be barbecued and served up as a tasty treat, presumably to those attending her funeral - https://news.sky.com/story/activist-wan ... k-12896955

This is a jolly creative gesture, and is much more interesting than most of the rather boring Wills that I make. The scope for mischief is endless - a chap perhaps leaving his `manhood' to his mistress? A woman leaving her heart to a secret lover? The perfect way to create havoc from beyond the grave!

Interestingly, the law says that there is no property in a body - in other words nobody (so to speak) can claim ownership of it.

As I'm sure that many Fools will now be considering similar provisons in their Wills I therefore thought it might be helpful to pass on this guidance - https://www.lexology.com/library/detail ... &utm_term=

Happy testating! ;)

Crikey! Given my tribe's tendency to deep fry stuff this could give a whole new meaning to a battered husband

I scent ££food for lawyers!
Since one's body cannot be left in a Will because it isn't property, it is difficult to see how any other expression of wishes can be mandated.
And the top of the list of those responsible for cadaver disposal - spouse, executor, other next-of-kin and so on - will do whatever they want, although the local authority might intervene if the human equivalent of a hog roast were planned on the village green at Allhallowtide.

If any one of you has yet to see Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, I strongly recommend it. The secret’s in the sauce!

Unless the person died young, shouldn't the flesh be cooked by a method such as slow stewing that tenderises it over several hours? After marinading in suitable herbs, of course.

This is all simply in poor taste

I believe the taste is akin to pork.
Cannibals apparently used to refer to missionaries as 'long pig'.
