Anyone got any recommendations for a book explaining how cryptocurrency/blockchain works that isn't 'too' technical (but covers the nuts and bolts) and is an easy read ? It's not for me; I know how crypto works (well...lol) but for one of my sons who been dabbling bit in crypto investment (thankfully only with hundreds of pounds). He's also doing Economics at Uni so a knowledge of crypto/blockchain can't do him any harm. The one I've seen is
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Basics-Bitcoin ... s9dHJ1ZQ==
but if anyone has got a better recommendation...

Re: Recommendations for book on cryptocurrencies
It's ages since I read it but here is one that I enjoyed.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bitcoin-Future ... =ABIS_BOOK
Since he is doing Economics then you might want to suggest this argument by Hayek that pre-dated bitcoin (1976). I haven't read it.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Denationalisat ... =ABIS_BOOK
Here is the CheatSheet of it on Wiki.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Denat ... n_of_Money
Not what you were asking for, but possibly more relevent than arguments about proof-of-work or proof-of-stake.

Re: Recommendations for book on cryptocurrencies
Hi,
I'm not aware there are many books on the subjects. I'm still learning but most of my knowledge has come from youtube videos. I follow the following youtube channels - 99bitcoins (I started with this one, it has lots of short videos explaining things clearly), sheldon evans, crypto tips, dapp university, charles hoskins, coin bureau, andrei jikh, jrny crypto, bitboy crypto
There are lots of others but i find the ones listed to be some of the most professional. There are also numerous others including ones which focus on technical analysis, but i've always thought technical analysis is a complete waste of time so i don't follow those types of youtubers.
Hope that helps

Is the Satoshi white paper not enough? The other stuff is mostly derivative surely?

I would recommend the Bitcoin Standard by Saifedean:

The most recent versions have the Forward by the indefatigable Michael Saylor.
